Photographs from a recent trip to Switzerland.

The pictures of the seals, tortoises and bats are from the Zurich Zoo, who recently opened a new giant area - a greenhouse the size of four football fields, containing bats, monkeys, tortoises, and a profusion of birds.

The butterfly and cocoons are from the Papiliorama (Butterfly-House) Kerzers - a large glass dome containing hundreds of butterflies. Right next to it is the Nocturama, another glass dome that houses nocturnal animals - including huge numbers of bats, flying around you so closely you can feel the draft of their wings.

Finally, the other pictures are of the tower of the Mönster in Bern, looking out from the upper observation platform.
