Newcastle

Some pictures of Newcastle.

The gravestone picture is quite interesting from a scientific point of view, which is why I included it. The stone has weathered in a way that actually deepens the engraving originally made. There is apparently some self-reinforcing process at work here. It's also interesting that the areas immediately around the letters are consistently raised.

I first noticed that veiled bridge when looking out of the window of a house nearly below it. Because the pillars were obscured by other houses, it felt like some spaceship was hovering over Newcastle, all metal girders and lights glowing from beneath the fabric. The picture I actually managed to take doesn't really capture that impression but looks surreal in a different way instead.
